“Where do you see your company in 5 years?”

Sounds like a job interview question, right?
But actually, it’s one of the most important questions in a business valuation too.

When we prepare a valuation report, we don’t just pull numbers out of thin air. A big part of the assumptions comes directly from the management team — the insiders who know best what’s possible and what’s ahead.

👉 Does that mean we take everything at face value?
Not quite. We still need to cross-check:

  • past performance,
  • industry outlook,
  • and the plausibility of the forecast.

For example, if sales are expected to jump 30% — which product or service will drive that growth? And are the expenses to support it included?

Your input becomes the base we build on.
That’s why it’s crucial for management to always have a clear 5-year forecast.

Because if you don’t know where your company is headed, it’s hard for anyone else to value it.
